The fact Apple produced the bumper leads me to believe that they knew about this problem. Steve Jobs suggests using this bumper, or "top holding the phone that way"...

Any other company and there'd be a consumer revolt.
It's Apple though so everyone will just go 'yes Mr Jobs I will give you some more money' or 'yes Mr Jobs I will hold my phone in a cack handed way'

Right, the HTC Smart I was looking at doesn't have Wi-fi, and I've finally decided not to get it because of that. Any recommendations for preferably PAYG phones that don't break the budget. (The Smart was £100 on PAYG, reduced to £90)

There are some highly fab live wallpapers available from the "themes" bit of the Android Market. My phone is currently locked in a perpetual Pong battle with itself (it's not as smelly as you'd think) that I can intervene in at any time. And Gav: I think the starfield one is right up your street.

Which one - "Starfield 3D live" or "Starfield! Live"

Oh aye - one is free the other isn't.
Really nice. I haven't used live wallpapers. I stick with the very dull static ones. Do they drain the battery much (if at all)?

Seems okay, and both of those should be free - might be different versions we're looking at

marksi wrote:I've just checked this. Google Listen remembers the point you stopped a podcast. I've swapped between two podcasts and each time it picks up at the point you left it last.
I've also added a "BBC Browsecast" app which neatly arranges all the available BBC podcasts and plays them for you through Google Listen.
Once I got to grips with it - the 'download' option isn't in an obvious place! - Google Listen is great.
My only complaint is that it doesn't look like you can download podcasts via 3G, only by Wifi... and I don't have Wifi at home. Also it's a shame that the podcasts themselves aren't saved in mp3 format so I can't copy them off the phone onto my PC or mp3 player... I have to download them a second time on there.
I'm mightily impressed with the Desire all round really, especially now I seem to have got to grips with the battery life. I keep discovering new, useful stuff tucked away in menus and if there's anything else that I need to do someone somewhere has written an app to do it.

Just checked and found no problem with using Google listen over 3g. Might be down to your network.

Aha, just found a setting marked 'download only on wifi'!

Is it worth getting an HTC Hero? I know it's not as good as the Desire, but it's the only phone that BT
are offering, and I can get it on a favourable tariff (my father is an employee). Do the buttons under the touch screen get in the way? I'm not too keen on the track-ball myself, but haven't actually seen one in the flesh.
Any comments appreciated
