My HTC Desire doesn't have a £ sign.
What's that about?
I think it's on the second page of number screen, there should be a 1/2 button that takes you there
Ah there it is. Didn't realise there was a "page 2 of 2". Thanks Jake.
Given the $ is there above one of the letters, its hardly convenient for a UK person.

Indeed not, though stranger still is the message that pops up when you put one in a text message. It says that if you're sending a message to a T-Mobile recipient, a £ sign will cause the message to fail. Really?!

Whaaaaaaat?
That's crazy.
Anyway, I decided earlier just to use the $ symbol - so people will just have to get used to it.

I was intrigued by that, so I tried it. Not only was there no pop-up, but the message also arrived!

Seidio Innocell Extended Life Battery for the HTC Desire - £27.
Good deal? Anyone using these? 1600mAh as opposed to the 1200mAh that comes with the phone.
Hmmm?

I'm not finding the battery life on mine too bad now it's in "normal" use, never seems to get down to less that 25% by the end of the day.
The standard battery is 1400mAh, not 1200. Also,
http://batteryboss.org/ claims that while the standard battery holds a charge of 97% of that suggested, the Seido batteries are of lower quality and holds only 82% of advertised charge... in other words that's actually less than the standard one - 1357mAh v 1305mAh.

I took the 1200 from a comment on the sellers website - someone pointed out the value was "even better as the phone comes with just 1200mAh".
I was going to take mine out to check, but I'm lazy that way.
And yes - my battery power seems to have stabilised somewhat too, especially now it hops onto various wireless networks that I've taught it to. If its updating twitter and such on 3G that seems to make it drain faster.
The chap telling me about this battery website today is my outsourced IT company contact - and he's only just picked up his Desire.
Maybe I should tell him to hang back on the purchase, both in light of what you just told me and also because the battery life seems to improve after several weeks.
I do like the idea of a dual charging station so I can have another batter in my pocket, for those days/evenings where I'm browsing away in a pub, catching up on my favourite sites.

Wouldn't download it if I were you. A lot of people reporting crashes and niggles, like photos disappearing. It's even bricked a few of my friends' iPhones.

Downloaded it for someone with no understanding of computers, worked quite well so far, and surprised with how many features the 3GS can cope with.
