A bizarre reference to the mum's previously unmentioned occupation (presumably) in the 10th paragraph, which begins "The chef waited patiently". Her occupation is not mentioned again. So odd.

That's subeditors for you. They take your perfectly crafted copy, hack it to pieces so it fits the space and deliver the shreds to the printers and setters. The rest gets sent back to you soaked in your own tears.
