I must admit I wasn't aware that the Scottish broadcasting people had started it.
You're BOTH rancid turds in hindsight.

Depends if you can relieve the tension in my neck or not.
Which, as you're responsible for a lot of it, I doubt.

You are quite right that its not the place for such threads and in my mind thats why it was locked, not because of the resulting discussion.
So would you lock a thread Bail if it was started to discuss the life and times of a tv presenter who had just popped his or her clogs? I would imagine if we just heard that Trevor McDonald or Eamon Holmes had died someone would start a thread on it and a lot of people would want to contribute.

There are several threads on TVF that are not presentation related. I read the Coronation Street thread, and that usually consists of how good/poor the episode was and a blanket of screen where spoilers are placed. It isn't often mentioned about the presentation of the show on that thread, except for interesting camera angles etc, and no one shouts for that to be locked, so I don't understand the problem, surely if it's tv related, and not overly unnecessary, and if people have no opinion it will just work it's way down the list anyway.
Now if there was a thread opened every second about mindless tosh ala DS, I could understand such policing, but for example there was a death, about an actor / presenter / etc, surely it would be about their contribution to television / the media, so why not?
