whyPhone?
Laydeees and gentlemen... I now have my HTC Desire on O2. But I haven't got my PAC number from O2 so my phone bit isn't working yet. It appears to be fab, but I haven't worked out how to make it do things yet and it is confusing me. I need to play with it more. And I will.
I'm personally looking at a HTC Smart in Black on Pay & Go with 02. I can get a bolt-on for unlimited texts and data if I top up £10 every month, and it's in a more appropriate price range for me. £100 for handset, and no fixed payments.
I seem to have found a little issue with the fab HTC Desire. The FM radio seems to be affected by something internal to the phone which prevents it receiving 96.0FM. This is a bit of a pain in the bum as Radio 4 is on that frequency in greater Belfast.

So.. had a little software (firmware?) update to the Desire last week - and since then I've noticed its not picking up on wireless networks without assistance. There's quite a lot of "acquiring address..." messages (which it doesn't connect to ultimately), and I've noticed the battery seems to be draining faster than before this update.
Umm... anyone?
Umm... anyone?

What's the radio like apart from that?marksi wrote:I seem to have found a little issue with the fab HTC Desire. Its good for me. Better than my Nokia 6220, in that its pretty clear and non-fuzzy on my walk to and from work listening to 97.3 Forth FM, even venturing into shops as I'm wont to do.Inspector Sands wrote:What's the radio like apart from that?marksi wrote:I seem to have found a little issue with the fab HTC Desire. The sound overall is very satisfactory. The loudest I can have the volume is almost *too* loud (yay), and its a pretty rich bass.
Odd shaped headphones, but they sit in my ear super-snug.
Which is nice.
Agreed with Gav, the radio is good other then the problem I've found with 96.0FM. Sound quality is much better than on the Nokia I've replaced it with, though while searching for other mentions of the problem above I've found quite a few people complain about the radio app locking up. I haven't noticed this myself.
Google Listen is doing a good job so far in terms of podcasts and that's what I've replaced live R4 with... though there are a few podcast apps which I've heard are very good but not yet tried.
