I’ve been away visiting friends since early on Friday morning and got home a couple of hours ago. I read the thread at the top of the list, and chose to respond to it when logging onto Metropol.

I haven’t ’blatantly ignored’ anything, or ‘ruined’ anything by responding to a post

His comment was no more sarcastic than the ones you normally make. Perhaps you saw it as unacceptable because it was directed at the producers of the advertisement, rather than your comment; he never mentioned OFCOM, and your inference that he would do so is wrong.

You can't just laugh with him pointing out the obvious flaws can you, you have to turn it round to be something personal?

But most of all, don't think this is all about you. There wasn't a thread "devoted" to you at all. It was my GLORIOUS moderation celebration thread that you saw fit to take wildly off topic to talk about yourself for once and how others are varying shades of wrong.

Anyway, back to adverts - I love the Tesco one. The first few times you're watching for Des' expression but then you begin to actually take notice of what they're actually offering without being bored of it. Clever.

Meh! I'm not that observant!

They probably have changed the red 'disks' without me noticing in the different ITV regions I've been in over the past week. I was rather hoping they would change the advert (and Des's expression) as it got nearer christmas, it would be amusing.

I am still wondering why anyone would dislike the 'John Lewis' one; it's sweet, repeatable and memorable for all the right reasons. I love it! Blah!

I must say, this is the first time I have lived within distance of a John Lewis store for years. They didn't have them in Plymouth!

for someone who constantly requires things to be explained because he didn't see them the first time round it might be a start, and since when have we ever been busy enough to have "pages" of new posts after about three days? it hardly takes long to catch up

That awful, awful public information film about the government's personal information toolkits. The one where a guy is trying something on, looks in the mirror and sees a guy who's stolen his identity. What really hacks me off is the way the 'reflection' talks - sort of like a cross between David Brent and Jimmy Carr. There's enough idiots out there who've ripped this contrived dialect off already (and they they think nobody notices :roll: ). It doesn't need to be encouraged or endorsed by the flipping government.

The Iceland ads were all already annoying, but that god-awful 'rendition' of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" is pathetic at best, irritating at worst.

Every single fucking advert for perfume or aftershave. Poncy, pretencious, arsey, meaningless shite.

Ewan McGregor - hang your head in shame.

(On the other hand the one where Celine Dion tries to look sexy is at the same time genuinely hilarious).

The fragrance ad which annoys me the most at the moment (can't remember which product it flogs) is the one with a male model who strips during the ad, gets a round of applause when he sits down in a state of nudity and gives his audience a really smug look.
