I'm a bit bemused by the fuss over the 'new' Facebook, it's not really that much different in terms of usability.
A lot of my friends on there seem to be getting very confused and het up about 'Top stories' even though they've existed for ages. I prefer them on the same page - on the old layout I often used to wonder why all the news was old, then realise it had changed to 'Top News'
The ticker in the top right is actually quite good, although I wish they'd filter out items which appear in the main feed too. And I've just discovered the friend lists - I put all mine into categories ages ago and now there's a use for them! I keep noticing new things such as how you can subscribe to people: 'all' 'most' or 'none'
The Timeline looks interesting, I've not thought the latest version of the profile has always looked awful

I didn't mind the top news thing because you had the option to click "most recent" and see everything. Now it just feels like I'm missing stuff and have no such option. That's why I don't like it.

This migration to new will take me longer.
So far, my experience on Safari via iPad remains the same as the old one, with the exception of the ticker which appeared this morning.
Home PC won't start up (which is a problem as I've said I'll capture something off telly tonight for Bail), and work PC I'm only supposed to go on facebook at, um, certain moments of the day.
I have a pal on my list who appears to have already got the timeline running. I clicked on the link to sign up to it, but nothing has changed yet.
But I did notice the morning a hovering button which, when clicked, scrolls quickly past top news and takes me to recent. So that helps.
But the point of giving your life over to social networking, surely, is to be there most of the time - so "top news" becomes redundant in the face of the fact that you see "all news" most of the time.

I see you already have it...

Aha! Facebook appear to have fixed the scrolling problem as at this morning.
Oh, and I got my IE versions mixed up as well. It's actually version 8 running on the XP machine and version 9 on the Windows 7 machine.
If anybody who was certain it was version 7 causing the problem wants to have a re-think, please feel free!

And for those not on my list (why?)

yup, did the same myself. I do actually really like this although the tools to essentially "create your autobiography" up top (add when you broke a bone in your lifetime) are perhaps slightly stalkertastic.

I suspect Facebook will have had a jump in developers in the last few hours. I'm surprised they haven't disabled the workaround, but they're probably enjoying the hype.

I love the timeline idea, but I want to be able to limit friends to only going, say, 6 months back and no further. I'm also not a fan of the smart lists; I had my lists organised the way I wanted them before.

Annoyingly, although I can still see the original newsfeed on my iPad (with the addition of the ticker, but nothing else), my timeline isn't displaying properly on the pad, nor can it display embedded youtube clips, which it could before.
The display issue is odd. The page width extends beyond the screen, so I can't access some links, although I can pinch down and see the edges that way.
