Windows 8

I've managed to heave it onto a virtual machine (I don't fancy attempting to remove the bizarre new bootloader when I'm done and getting the Windows 7 one reinstated) - sadly the VirtualBox video driver won't work with it so it works but not in widescreen and it's a bit juddery.

My opinion is that it's very clumsy - I don't like switching between Metro and the standard Desktop one bit. Metro apps are not particularly useful and I can't see normal programs like Office, image editing programs or others integrating well into it's style.

A lot of standard system maintenance is still done through the normal desktop controls, such as the Control Panel which is quite limited in Metro and the rest of the options are in the standard desktop Control Panel. (this may well change in the beta or final editions of course)

Switching between Metro apps and programs is more akin iOS/Android where you have to go back to the menu and change to another program - and to achieve this you have to press the Windows key. Personally I'd feel happier if there was an app switcher that appears if you press Ctrl or something, or swipe/press something for tablets/touch screens.

I'm hoping for a lot of improvements in the beta - I'm finding it very difficult to use and get used at the moment which doesn't bode well for the standard PC user who will end up with Windows 8. It's a big mish mash at the moment.
