This area is in Corstorphine in my book, as is the PC World and McDonalds etc.

Not a fan of the new-look Tesco. I can't find anything and I know it sounds bizarre but the mezzanine makes the food area feel smaller. I guess it's the illusion of height making it seem bigger before. Not a fan of the travelators that have a sensor which triggers an announcement that tells you you are about to reach the end. Also, do you know - some nights the tills need updating between 2300 and 2330? You can't buy anything. The store is open but you need to browse until the checkout re-opens. This has caught me out several times coming off a late shift at work hungry for my tea. Like I said, not a fan.

Cumbernauld and alloa have the travelators, I believe prams and wheelchairs are still not allowed

Never understood how 24 hour stores avoid this. Few years ago Argos trialled in a few of the larger stores 24 hour trading. Problem being that every night every store had to complete overnight polling - which rendered the entire store system inoperable - including reserving stock online or from other stores.

I understand why Argos might have a problem with their mega integrated system, but there's no needs for supermarkets to do the same. At Sainsbury's, any till can act independently (based on the last update) of the server, and tills can also manually skip or be forced to update.

I suppose the issue is with price changes, but as long as one is ready to go by midnight, the rest could all be taken offline without interrupting sales. As is usual practice, the trick is to put all price increases out before midnight, with price decreases after midnight.
