Ugh I can't stand twitter, gets on my bits. And what's with the BBC & Sky giving airtime to comments from randoms like Ashton Kutcher and David Millibands twitter accounts.

Have we got so lazy that journalism now becomes pouring over celebrity twitter accounts for random comments ?

I think we're into the "This is the news...he's still dead...." part of the coverage, so I'm off to bed. No doubt there will be more in the morning, and the papers will have lots of time to deliver chunky Saturday tributes.

Horrible and unexpected news, yes, but let's not forget two names that may have slipped below some people's radar in the wake of MJ's passing.

Rest In Peace: Ed Mcmahon and Farah Fawcett.

I don't think anyone can be accused of letting Farrah Fawcett slip under the radar - she was the main news right up until half past ten.

Oh stop being so sanctimonious. The worst that we've had here is a couple of people riffing on song names and plastic surgery and the rest is just pointing out the banal coverage, namesakes and melodramatic overtures of fans.

Ok, maybe my comment was a bit harsh, and I apologise. I'm just a bit shocked really.

Agreed, Sky reading out tweets from David Milliband on the subject was cringeworthy. However, once again, BreakingNews on Twitter was reporting the story way ahead of anyone else (their source TMZ). I'm not saying it's always accurate, far from it, but it's certainly fast and is, for me, an excellent early warning site of possible breaking news. In my game, that can be very helpful.

I know they were just taking the live feeds last night but it seemed a bit ghoulish of the BBC and Sky to show the amateur footage of the ambulance when the person with the phone was trying to get a shot through the window, okay they didn't manage but that's not really on.
