It's not today I'm concerned about when it comes to snow, it's Monday which looks like the big ticket day. Haven't some parts of the south around London got an extreme weather warning for Monday?

Yes, it would appear that it's tonight into tomorrow where the main problems will be. The Met Office weather warning map is rather erratic at the moment switching between no weather warning and disruption. Currently it looks like:

Image

The yellow standing for "be aware", the orange "be prepared" and the red over London and South East apparently means "take action". Which I think means you all have to retreat to your fall out shelters and whitewash your windows.

Of course, I always take these warnings with a pinch of salt as ever since 1987, the Met Office has erred on the side of caution and always predicts things to be worse than they will be so they won't suffer any embarrassment! Mind you it's at 60% chance of disruption and forecasters do appear to be fairly sure that it will affect many parts of the country but of course, who knows how it will develop over the next twelve hours or so.

That's the weather...for now.

Mmmmm, perhaps I won't head east tomorrow then.

You're welcome to pop across the Wiltshire border tomorrow, Mr Francis, if you need to!

A few tiny flakes on and off all day here in Huddersfield, nothing much though.

I get the distinct impression that the severity is decided not just by the amount of snow but by the ability of the locals to deal with it happening. Wussy southerners, I say!

A flash warning has now been issued for the North West, Yorkshire & Humber, East Midlands, East and London & South East regions.
Met Office wrote:Outbreaks of snow are expected to continue throughout this evening, overnight and into Monday, bringing a covering of snow to most places. 5 to 10cm is likely in some areas with perhaps 15cm in places, especially over the southern Pennines and across parts of southeast England, including London. Drifting is likely over high ground in the strong east or northeasterly winds. The Public are advised to take extra care and refer to the 'Highways Agency' for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.
So expect London to grind to a halt tomorrow and the news will forget any one else exists North of Watford.

Wusses, still it seems we're in for an eventful few days even with the fash warning causing my area to be on awareness level orange for the next three days which I for whatever reason expect to extend to Wednesday.

The snow must be God trying to get me an extra day off to relax after two weeks of exams.

Thanks Nick!
