In proportion to what? Not everything can be compared to the bigger things. The largest denominator here is television so no, not really that disproportionate on that scale which I doubt anyone was making odd comparatives to human disaster.

So no, you're wrong cdd.
What i'm getting at is I agree the X-factor is a tried'n'true generic format but what about the X Factor in particular compared to the 9000 other talent shows out there makes it deserving of such fury?

It's the big dog of talent shows and the real ire is from the talent part, not just the reality element.

I think one thing that makes the X Factor stand out a little bit as worthy of contempt is that it's not just a fluffy Saturday night Strictly affair, but a cynical exercise designed to put out something which, even if fleetingly, is bad for music.

Bloody hell, I'm agreeing with Nini! What's this world coming to?

Anyway, I've had it with reality TV, but it's a sad indictment on life when people consistantly watch this kind of tosh. It also shows how rubbish ITV is. They can't afford to keep regional news services, but they can keep this garbage? (That's a rant better kept for TVF though, methinks)

The only stage worth watching is the auditions, for sheer comedy value, although having said that, the song from the failures at the final was over-the-top, unnecessary, demeaning and unfunny. The constant drawing-out of the voting was irritating as well, that show could, and indeed should, have been finished in five minutes, but no. We're sat there hearing those numbers again and again.

Well obviously a commercial network is going to keep the one with the most money to be made.

I saw Leonard Cohen at the O2 in the summer, and you really cannot beat his version of Halleluja, indeed the origional.

However despite not giving a monkeys-bottom about the X Factor, I have happily paid 79p for Alexandra's cover which is very good.

I never had much love for any version of the track, luckily my radio exposure is low so I don't actually have to endure any version of it once or twice every fucking hour.

It's an outrage or something.
