There will kept the Bank of scotland up here as there still have a head office and print alot of money.

I do have to say there could try to merge the branches but I think it may not be possible there no room to swing, and some que at branches are bad enough

Apparently the name of the merged bank will be "Lloyds TSB plc", according to the Daily Mail. Although they are keeping the Halifax brand, probably for mortgages, the same way Barclays kept the Woolwich name just for those services, but actually closed all their branches.

They also report that the Bank of Scotland name will disappear, although that conflicts with statements that they will continue to issue banknotes. I'm assuming they mean that BoS just isn't in the name of the holding company, but will exist as a subsidiary and therefore able to issue banknotes using that name. I don't imagine the Scottish Government would be too keen to see BoS banknotes replaced with Lloyds TSB ones.

Would it even be legal for Lloyds TSB to print banknotes in their name? I'm sorry, I don't understand the rules of who is allowed to print banknotes and where they are then legal tender.

no scottish banknote is legal tender. in fact paper money isn't "legal tender" at all in scotland.
