Surely pepper spray is more effective than a rape alarm?

Pepper spray would not be ideal, and anyone who has access to pepper spray should bin it. If you were to spray that on an attacker, the chances are it would blow back in your face temporarily blinding you and the potential attacker, or the attacker could get it of you before you spray it.

And of course if i'm not mistaken it's illegal to be in posession of pepperspray unless you are a copper.

My mum had one out with her one night. She showed it to me, and, by playing around with it, I accidentally set it off, there were 4 or 5 people walking past who didn't take any notice. They obviously thought it was a car alarm and ignored it.

That, and if it's in the woman's hand bag, she's hardly in a position to get it if a big guy is on top of her. I usually walk my mum home if she is on a night shift. I have a black coat and if I bow my head I look hard and nasty so people stay clear

WHAT IS THE POINT IN THAT? Wouldn't it be easier to include a device that just gives said rapist an electric shock or something, or would that be classed as an 'offensive weapon' along with coathangers?
