Which is why it is best to invest in a pdf file maker if you are job hunting. That way when you send your CV it will include a link to the Adobe site for free download of the read software anyway (if they didn't have it already).
I'd love to do my CV in Illustrator, make it look beautiful and save it as a PDF. But a PDF isn't a Word document... and if that's what the job ad asks for. and you send a PDF, then chances are the employer will disregard your application for failing to follow simple instructions.

Most respectable employers shouldn't be that restrictive. pdf format is a well used and respected format, and allows individuals to use any program they wish to promote themselves. After all, a CV is your marketing tool to potential employers.
