Do they still have sweets taped to the front cover every now and then, or has that stopped due to the 'obesity timebomb'

More likely to have been stopped because they get ripped off the front pages in the badly tied bundles bumping about in the van between the wholesaler and the newsagent.

Plus the fact that if you did rip them off, you ended up ripping off half the front page with it! It really was a comic strip then.

And they used to get horribly squashed too...

I remember many a time having a copy of the Beano with a flattened Drumstick... didn't affect the flavour though so I wasn't bothered!

Even worse though during the summer months when the wrapper & the drumstick itself melted together to becoem a sticky mess.

Regarding the Beano, anyone seen a copy of the new Dandy of recent, it's nothing like the Dandy I read as a kid

Sticker book with this weeks edition folks. I must make it clear that i only buy the Beano these days for the kids to read while waiting for a haircut. It is not for my own personal pleasure. Oh, how i suffer!

I would of course understand if you wanted to first approve each issue first by having a quick read, that would be fine in my book.
