Because it would have been simple, common courtesy.Asa wrote:Why exactly did I need to give advance warning to members?
Another concept which doesn't sit well on your arrogant shoulders, quite obviously.
Nick, sorry and all that, but I really don't think the kind of language you direct towards Asa is acceptable. Perhaps you have reason you feel is justification, but I cringe every time you come out with things like that. I think the message has been gotten.
Don't be rediculous, Nick. You're normally the voice of reason but get this in some perspective.Nick Harvey wrote:Because it would have been simple, common courtesy.Asa wrote:Why exactly did I need to give advance warning to members?

TV Forum is something Asa clearly runs for personal enjoyment, and our own, as apposed to a business. If I subscribed financially to the site I would agree with you, but it's a site Asa maintains, getting little if anything in return, for our pleasure, enjoyment, and providing us with an organ to which conversations we would not be able to have down the local can be had. The only time the latter would happen would be if I buy Asa a pint, if we ever meet, for running such a fabulous site off his own back, on top of everything else he does on a day to day basis.
The site? If you're going via tvforum.co.uk then yes, this will become totally unavailable over the next couple of days depending on your ISP.noelfirl wrote:Down...?
Please use http://www.tvforumbeta.co.uk instead.
Ah, I use a bookmark to get to the site, which is set at "tvforum.co.uk", and which re-directed to "tvforumbeta.co.uk" earlier on, but doesn't anymore. Got it fixed now.Asa wrote:The site? To DAS and rts, we had better agree to differ on this subject, as the only solution would be for me to publish the rest of the abuse I've received in e-mails and PMs over the years from Hicks.
I've already put some of it into the public domain in the past and not been very popular for doing so.
I could go all the way back, the best part of four years to my first positive suggestion, originally offering to pay for the hosting for TVF in Manchester, on the same servers as Waveguide, but I was totally rebuffed at the time.
There were many more positive suggestions over time, which led to nastier and nastier replies.
The fact that my suggestions are now more in the negative tone of the expected answer, than the original positive ideas should not be surprising.
Mr Hicks is far more of a control freak than Mr Bliar will ever aspire to being. Anyone who makes a positive suggestion which could possibly lead to any tiny loss of his total control of TVF will be hated for ever.
I, sadly, fall into that category, so have to say, best to now close the subject.
