I agree. I have never introduced myself as "company director". If you look at what I actually said, Dr L, I said "The difference in the past when I was introduced..." - somebody else was introducing me.Dr Lobster* wrote:perhaps if you introduce yourself as a 'company director' women are going to think either;
a) you've got a lot of money because you run a company
b) you're a muppet
don't be offended at option b, but if i was around somebody who had to make it known they were a director i'd think they were suffering from an inferiority complex.
Outside of a work environment, if someone introduced themselves as a director/etc, I too would be less than impressed.
I think some women are out for money - I always have done - but by all means, not all.Dr Lobster* wrote:i think that if you hold the opinion that women are all out for your money you are setting yourself up for such an eventuality by making it known that there is a possibility you are wealthy. the women you may have come into contact with and got to know in the past may not have given you a second glance had they not known this fact about you. you need to realise that if anything, you are probably completely to blame for this - if you didn't make it known you had money, people wouldn't want to get to know you because of your money because it isn't an issue.
if the very first thing somebody knows about is 'company director' this is going to instantly shape their opinions about you. perhaps your other behaviour is shaping the belief that you have lots of money (such as taking them out for expensive meals etc etc)
The figures quoted in my original post were that of a survey and not an anecdotal rant.
The "money-grabbing bitches" are the 45% of women who said that a man's bank balance were the most important consideration in selecting a partner.Dr Lobster* wrote:it's a nonsense to say that women are out for money. it's clearly not true, of course there will be women who want to get to know you because they want your money, but you could say that about pretty much everything else which is measureable or valuable.
The remaining 55% are not "money-grabbing bitches".
