We're getting the sausages one down 'ere in wurzel-land as well, Mark; not that we were ever warned about any turnips with firearms.

Has anyone seen the MotoPebl advert with the phone being swept onto a beach by the sea?

It comes with a charming text strap which reads:

FICTIONALISATION: Pebl is not water resistant.

And what's with the name MotoPebl?

It makes me angry and feel sick.

Talking of positive adverts, I find that the ones I like the most are the beer/lager adverts, like Fosters, John Smith's ("Y're barred!"), Carling, Carlsberg and Tetley. Particularly ironic for me, seeing as I don't drink!

Oh yes! I'm liking the Becks one at the the moment. Beer ads are usually pretty good. The best ever has got to be the Guiness one with the Surfers and horses. Tick follows tock.

I'm liking the new Werther's Originals one - quite unexpectedly.

I also became rather fond of the Yorkshire Tea advert with the lovely animation that followed a man walking his dog, an old steam train and a cricket match. A shame that it's been replaced with something showing the box next to a lot of mugs.

I'll tell you what's shite - that series of "Aunt Tea" adverts by Tetleys.

Am I supposed to like the woman in them?

Yes, I never quite got those either. The Tetley family were much better, although because of one of their final adverts, I didn't want to hear Bill Withers' "Lovely Day" for quite a while afterwards - it annoyed the hell out of me!

And while I've just seen it - I'm not keen on the Crunchy Nut campaign, either.

I get it - but the one with the man riding the large dog just isn't good enough. It looks wrong in some bits - not conceptually, but in execution.

The bip-bip-bip soundtrack knaws at my conciousness.

Its giving me an ulcer.

There are only three ad campaigns at the moment which I like

 The Becks ad; takes a few views to realise how great and effective the mixture of animation and live action is. Great soundtrack by the Flaming Lips too.

 The Ovaltine Max for Milk ad with the animated kids who turn into tigers and go "RAWR!" - just think it's cute. Also nice to hear Jane Horrocks on voiceover.

 The Surf ad with the guy who gets his clothes ripped off at the bus stop - the look on his face at the end is priceless and it still makes me smile.
