Oh god, do they STILL have that lamentable attempt at predictive text on them?cat wrote:I really hated the weight of the Nokia - even though it was pretty tiny - so the lovely looking V3 RAZR was perfect. Then I wrote a text message on it.
Which Mobile?
Knight knight
Motorola's are awful for writing texts - whereas I find that Sony Ericsson's system used on the new phones is very user friendly and taking time to learn it whilst writing a couple of text messages. Much better than the Nokia system, as the SE allows you to see what words are in the list rather than having to keep pressing buttons. Oh, and it actually remembers words!
And I love the SE as they give you the USB cable gratis...(how many phone manufacturers try and pocket an extra £20 by leaving them out?) and you can update your firmware online really easily.
Never thought I'd depart from a Nokia, especially having the god awful Samsung E720 with crap call quality, a text message system that didn't allow you to enter words and constant crashing. But I do still have a trusty Nokia in the draw for the day when I drop my phone down the toilet (Well everyone does it eventually!)

Good Lord!
Ok, my turn to order a new phone.
Orange seem to keep the fact that you can now upgrade your phone 9 months into the contract quiet. I stumbled across that on the Orange website last night by accident.
Anyone any more experience of the phones that were being talked about in this thread, or anything new on the horizon?
Anyone know anything about the Samsung e770?

If it is anything like my Samsung E720 on Orange i would say avoid it, the call quality is crap, you are stuck with the factory set tones for a txt and mine plays the message tone randomly when i dont have any messages, i have been disapointed with it overall compared to other samsungs i have owned.fusionlad wrote:Ok, my turn to order a new phone.

One of my mates has just got a D600 and that seems rather good ......................
Interesting point about the 9 month upgrade thing on orange, i am just coming up to that point with them later on this month.
I would stick with Nokia if I were you, Mark.
I have left them a few times to try other phone manufacturers, but none of them come close, imho.
My phone is a Nokia N91 - 4GB hard drive for music, 2 megapixel camera. Best phone I've had by a mile for a long time.

I thought no-one would ever live up to Nokia in terms of phones, but Sony Ericsson really are coming through.
I have the K800i and had the K750 before that and I found it so easy to change from a Nokia based interface. I'd say out of most phone manufacturers it comes closest in how you operate.
The camera on the K800i is amazing too - thoroughly recommended...if you're gonna take the chance and change from Nokia I would urge you to do it with this phone.

I have to agree with you there, my last two phones have been Sony Ericsson's, my first being the T610 (bought in 2004) and my current one being the K750i, which has been a good phone which I do find easy to use, the camera is also good, but not excellent. Though my contract with Orange is due up on Friday, so I've ordered myself the K800i from O2 online, I'm getting a bit tired of Orange, the signal in my area is crap on Orange, but good on other Networks such as O2, I prefer to text than talk so O2's prices seemed slightly cheaper, though both Networks giving similar prices.Isonstine wrote:I thought no-one would ever live up to Nokia in terms of phones, but Sony Ericsson really are coming through.

The K800i seems the most logical step up from the K750i, my friend has just got the same phone too, albeit on Vodafone, as his wife to be works at an office for them and can get the discount, but he told me the quality of the K800 was amazing. He also found it easy to use, as every phone he's had has been a Nokia, I also owned a couple of Nokia's too, but as time has gone on, though as good as they are, to me they seem a bit chunky and don't live up presenationally to their Sony Ericsson counterparts.
I've also been more sensible this time and ordered my phone online, last time I went to Phones 4U and to be honest I wouldn't recommend them, but I've learnt from my mistakes. Though I've had a few calls from a foreign call centre on behalf of Orange and Phones 4U trying to sell me a new contract or reminding me it's up soon, though if I want Orange, I will speak to them gladly, as I don't want to end up in some shit and paying more for the bloody thing.
