Our Morrisons was selling them on Saturday, the best we could offer was an extra Point Of Sale display and a special announcement on the tanoy, breaking the normal announcements "Why not go along to our Pie Shop etc...."

To be honest I don't see what the big fuss is about, we read the first one in Year 7 and I couldn't get into it, I watched about an hour of the film and again I couldn't stand it. If I wanted a copy I'd pre-order it off the Net or just walk into a WHSmith/Waterstones/Supermarket on the day and get it, all stores would have ordered extra copies.

Apple Store London - 20th November 2004 - it took about 8 minutes to walk from the start of
the queue at the store's entrance on Regents Street, right to the very end, at the entry
gates of nearby public gardens, the name of which escapes me right now!

Well we did take them down overnight. Plus I think you'll find they were not bin bags. They were one of those big sheets for keeping concrete dry.

The new touch screen tills are being rolled out in every shop as the old style ones are so old that new parts are not available and whenever one breaks down they replace it with a reconditioned one form an old store that usually breaks down very quickly.

Were you there that night? I had some friends queuing up. Infact I'm using the wireless keyboard they got then currently.

I've never read a Harry Potter book, and have no desire ever to do so. I also think adults who read them are probably slightly cunty.

However, I am genuinely impressed that a kids' book can create such a stir, especially in these days when there's so much else vying for their attention. Even if the book's shit, it's getting kids reading which has to be a good thing.

I agree on all of the above points (having never read one either), but I must put my frowny face on for the use of the word "cunty".

I do think the addition of the 'y' makes it an altogether cheerier word, but I'll limit its use in future. Sorry Gavin!

I didn't actually get there until about 7am. I was going to sneak in with members of the press, until I saw a
security guard checking press ID passes and access badges! So, I decided to brave the (bloody freezing)
cold, and go to back of the queue! Hoping to get some free Apple gear, like an iPod or a wireless
keyboard. As soon as I finally got into the store about 4 hours later (!) I did get one freebie . . .
