Okay, the first 20 seconds are naff, but the rest is simply beautiful.

You're right, the first 20 seconds are naff but the rest is mind-numbingly sentimental and cloying.

Well, imagine just how beige your Christmas might be if they didn't, you need to take that sort of thing into consideration.

It's not as bad as that awful John Lewis advert.

As we get closer to Xmas, whats the betting we see a re-hash of:

1) Yellow Pages kissing advert.

2) Andrex puppies in snow advert with duck singing "it's christmas"

3) Hellman's Mayonnaise "12-days of Christmas" with king prawns etc

???

I quite like that advert!

However, I'm irritated by the 'Flora pro-activ' one where everyone accuses Ms Hunniford of being a serial liar; perhaps she hasn't had enough 'Bifidus Regularis'.
NO! :o

It's not so much that it's terrible for me, it's that I have a fundamental objection to any commercial advert that tries to appeal to my sense of nostalgia/empathy/happiness. It feels totally disgusting, almost as if a stranger came up to you in the street and started showering you with compliments.

As terry tibbs would say, you have to wine and dine me first. That sort of sequence comes after a good hour of climactic buildup, not straight in as part of some campaign for a fizzy drink - it feels *so* cheap.

And the Quality Street tree was on yesterday which made me realise that it has been a year since I saw it last, yet it didn't feel like it

YAY that horrid DFS advert has been banned (http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/de ... dvertising) although not for making me lose faith in humanity, but because the sofas were fake-massive.

There's a few voiceovers which irritate me, more than the ads themselves. On my hit list at the moment would be the VO for McDonalds, PC World, and Halfords. "Neeeeeeeeeeeow." Urgh.
