Devizes Woolies has a sign in the window saying "Soon to become an Iceland".
Odd that about three doors up the road is the M&S Simply Food which used to be an Iceland till they decided they couldn't make a profit in Devizes and sold out.
Who's for the chop?

Very similar situation in Newtownards, County Down. Iceland moved out of the shopping centre, M&S Simply Food moved in. M&S then closed down their store and Iceland is moving into the old Woolworths.Nick Harvey wrote:Devizes Woolies has a sign in the window saying "Soon to become an Iceland".

Woolies in Newport, like most of the facelifted Kingsway Centre, is empty. Completely.
Got to love their optimism in this recession though - 12-an-a-bit months to t'Ryder Cup and they reckon they'll have it finished.

Scarborough's Woolworths is just an empty shell, its got a bloody massive glass frontage that some drunk guy like, walked through. I believe people enjoy picking the locks and having a piss in there...
It may become a Tesco Metro and a Starbucks soon apparently, even though there's a Tesco up the road...
We're trying to get H&M to take interest, but I don't think that'll happen. A Starbucks will be fantastic though

It would be a rare joy. It's not often you see a Starbucks, is it?math-yoooo wrote:A Starbucks will be fantastic though
Ronnie is victorious, vivacious in victory like a venomous dog. Vile Republicans cease living while the religious retort with rueful rhetoric. These rank thugs resort to violence and swear revenge.
But Ronnie can punch through steel so they lose anyway.

Back in Derry it's become Ethel Austin and Au Natural, seemed busier than Wollworths has been whenever it was open, and thats three weeks after launch, looks promising.

Quite similar with Woolies in Warrington, it's odd to see a shut store with no shutters/lights etc, but it simply still has a poster with a goodbye message from the Warrington 20. I hope they do put something else there, even if it is a Tesco Metro/Express, as 2 of them have suddenly appeared from nowhere in the area now.math-yoooo wrote:Scarborough's Woolworths is just an empty shell, its got a bloody massive glass frontage that some drunk guy like, walked through. It's pretty much destroyed what was the centre of town. To be fair, I don't care what goes in there, as long as it looks ok.
PS - I'm not trying to make Scarborough look shit, it's a lovely place really, aside from the Woolworthsy disaster!

On a personal note, that building behind the gentleman's right shoulder in the video with all the temporary red plywood frontage is where I work! And yes, the rest of the Kingsway Centre looks like that inside.
