I just like the phrase "unnecessary German"!

I'll say no more!

Don't mention the war. I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it all right...

Well Froyo has crapped up my phone. It keeps crashing, apps keep failing at it's running twice as slow as it previously did. Blah.

Try changing the wallpaper to one of the standard ones (if you're using a downloaded one).

My desire deleted all my text messages this evening. It seems to have happened when it reached 1500 messages sent. Very annoyed, and others seem to have reported the same problem.

Really? I must have sent many more than 1500 and they're all still there. Did you have the auto delete set? To save on memory mine is set to 800 per conversation, I'm wondering whether without that it just takes matters into it's own hands?

Well done, T-Mobile, well done.
What if you are a UK-based German?
The problem wasn't that the software was in German but the features weren't available on the UK T-mobile network (there was a voicemail app called Mobilbox which didn't work and a few other things). According to the upgrade message this German software removal was also for users in the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.

Sput wrote:Also something that angers me slightly about the desire is the feeble about of internal memory the phone has. It's gotten to the point where I actually have to manage not-very-many apps to make sure I can even install this update. This is one thing apple got right, even if it is non-upgradeable.
This was a problem for me, I'd moved virtually every app I could to the SD card so couldn't find much to free up space. What is the difference in the way Apple do it?

Has anyone upgraded their SD card on their Desire yet. I'm quite tempted to but wonder how easy it is to do, especially now you can run apps from the card. I assume it's just a case of plugging into a computer and copying the whole card onto the new one?

Auto-delete is turned off. Googling reveals quite a few people who have found the same thing. Back them up!

Having at least 8gb of memory floating about!

Have installed "SMS Backup and Restore" which looks good - can be set to automatically backup all your text messages to an xml file on your SD card. You can do it manually when you like, and can restore/email your xml file where you like.
