The Thanet sign looks yellow to me, and they're definately yellow on the November '91 openings in this issue: https://jsjournals.websds.net/Content/P ... J_46_1.pdf but orange on the Jan/Feb '92 openings here: https://jsjournals.websds.net/Content/P ... pdf#page=2

Interesting seeing the clock on the aisle signage in the Stafford store there, I remember there being one in the Derby Kingsway store as well.

Alos interesting to see the style of in-store signage didn't change much in the best part of a decade (though the tiling did)- not like now where it feels as if they tinker with it constantly. In fact there's a sign on one of the doors in Ashbourne (or at least there was last time I was there) in the 80s/early 90s style, even though that store didn't open till 1998!

Personally that's the style of Sainsbury's in-store signage I really like, up there with the typewriter Tesco signs from the same era!

BOGOF and multi-buy in most cases are being axed.

JS began moving to that model 18 months ago. Most of the places it's remained have been supplier-agreed promotions. Coke, for example, are unwilling to allow their 1.75l bottles to be sold for less than £1.50ish, but quite happy to have them on promotion half the time at 2 for £2.

Be interesting to see how suppliers react.

This Money Advice Service quiz is disingenuous, to say the least. It doesn't take into account unit pricing at all, and it presents more options than is realistic.

That said, there has been consumer demand for a very long time for replacing BOGOF with half price deals.

Steinhoff have put in a bid for Argos. Sainsbury's have until Feb 23rd to put in a firm offer.

So here we have a new-ish Sainsbury's Local store - I think it opened in 2013 or 2014:

But what's that at the bottom of the sign?

it's the pre-2002 National Lottery logo!

Yeah I've seen that in a few places, some even with the newer logo. Really annoys me that awful slab font made it to storefronts.

There's a sign in my local Sainsbury's where there's meant to be a ligatured "fi", but instead there's a very wide f and a dot added to the i.

Will someone be hearing "Mr Singh, I'm a lawyer representing Sainsbury's, and this is a court order insisting that you change the signage on this shop!" soon? It's called Singhbury's Local.

It's odd how certain things goes viral while others don't.

TECCO Express in Salford (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.48362 ... 6656?hl=en) has been aping Tesco Express for years...
