You mean the word Local on there? It's no wonder they changed it when the main logo changed.
That link is worth visiting to see highlight how technology has moved on.james2001 wrote:It's on this archive.org version of their website from 1998:

According to this Retail Week article, it's going to be used on their new brands like their Mexican range, but that didn't appear to be the case when I was down there at lunchtime.Jonny wrote:New logo for M&S
The items may be high turnaround, but the labels may have been printed in bulk. Why else would Sainsburys have been selling vinegar with their pre-99 logo until fairly recently?thegeek wrote:According to this Retail Week article, it's going to be used on their new brands like their Mexican range, but that didn't appear to be the case when I was down there at lunchtime.Jonny wrote:New logo for M&S
No sign of it on some of the high turnaround items like milk or sandwiches either, which you'd think would be the fastest things to change.
Because until the launch of "by Sainsburys" it was policy that it would wait until ranges were relaunched or labels needed redesigning (e.g. new shape packaging). "by Sainsburys" effectively acted as a relaunch across all ranges and so the blocky logo finally bowed out 15 years after it was replaced.Alexia wrote:The items may be high turnaround, but the labels may have been printed in bulk. I doubt it, since they're being removed pretty much continually and there must be a massive amount of spare panels with the piper on. Bloody useless things anyway, barely ever need them and both times I've attempted to use a freestanding one in the last 5 years it's been bunged and taken my cash.Alexia wrote:Can I imagine there was?
Incidentally, what's the policy on BT phone boxes? Any plans to remove old BT piper logos from them and/or give them new looks?
Most of the BT payphones take credit/debit cards these days. The only positive I had from the last time I paid for a phone call using one with coins was the amount of minutes you get for 60p.WillPS wrote:I doubt it, since they're being removed pretty much continually and there must be a massive amount of spare panels with the piper on.
