High Street chain collapse sweepstake
I'd imagine so, not heard anything in a fair few months.

Are the existing Bunnings conversions up for sale too?

If you're not in the vicinity of a Bunnings, you may have missed another of their Aussie imports: flyers filled with line drawings of their offers. I particularly like the ones of the flowers, gives you a great sense of the colours you'll get.

I've got a branch about a mile up the road. Still not been. I've been to Screwfix loads though.

I can’t remember if it was this thread where WHSmith was being discussed but their appalling pricing is finally making the news.

They’re blaming it on a pricing error but I don’t believe that for a second. £7.99 for toothpaste is entirely believable from them.

I believe the hospital shops come under the Travel part of the business, where marking up prices is usual.

Re the first line of that BBC article: "WHSmith has admitted it made more than £700 by selling single tubes of toothpaste for £7.99 in a hospital."
WHS has admitted that it sold 89 tubes @ £7.99. That's quite different to "making" more than £700, unless the cost price is circa 12p per tube even before non-stock costs are taken into account. Also not sure why they needed to include the Twitter opinion of a BBC presenter and an accusation about "price gouging" as a result of "NHS outsourcing" from an IT engineer on Twitter.

When, in comparison to B&Q (my nearest Homebase is about 22 miles away), Screwfix has a better range of items in stock, hardly any waiting or queueing time, usually better prices, and isn't on the busiest road in the area, it's a no-brainer to go there.thegeek wrote: Sat 12 May, 2018 09.19 If you're not in the vicinity of a Bunnings, you may have missed another of their Aussie imports: flyers filled with line drawings of their offers. The accusation on there are about magazines being marked up is interesting - I've never seen that before...tillyoshea wrote: Sat 12 May, 2018 16.25 Re the first line of that BBC article: "WHSmith has admitted it made more than £700 by selling single tubes of toothpaste for £7.99 in a hospital."
