Is it just me that doesn't *get* bread? I could quite happily live without it. That said, I do like my mum's Weight Watchers granary bread, but throughout my time at uni I don't recall buying more than a few loafs of anything.

Couldn't live without bread, but I don't get butter or spreads. They seem pointless to me and ruin the taste of a good sandwich.

I couldn't live without butter. My mother quite often regales the story of me, when a child, eating half a pound of butter that was softening by the fire, and thus running her plans to bake.

Without bread, there'd be nothing to stop tomato ketchup and fried onions getting all over my hands at barbecues. I can't imagine not having bread - hotdogs, burgers, beans on toast...
