Because the Nexus is Google's first "owned and operated" (if you like) device, the updates are instant and you're always first in the queue. As for updating to the latest OS, it's purely in the manufacturers hands. HTC have this week announced that JB4.1.2 will be rolled out to the HTC One X and One S.
Out of the box on Saturday it was running 4.1.1. Seconds later, an screen popped up, and after a quick reboot, I was up to 4.1.2 straight away.
The other neat thing is that apps update while it's in standby, so I woke up this morning to 4 app updates, 2 email notifications and the Guardian Anywhere app had also updated itself.

I'm still with my HTC Desire, and it's about time for an upgrade. The Nexus 4 is a good price, and I'm highly likely to be ordering one from Google Play.

the nexus 4 does look lovely, i'm still drawn the galaxy note 2 though.
there is no doubt i'd look a complete nob talking on it, to be honest i hardly use my mobile for voice calls, if i do, it's only a few times a week.
the nexus 10 though, i'm just itching to order one. more i read, more i want.
anybody else going to get one?

My brother has the old Note, and he uses it for calls all the time. He doesn't regret it at all. If HTC made a phone at 5.5", I'd have bought it over the One X.

Does anyone have any success stories to tell about ordering the new Nexus products (Nexus 4, Nexus 7 with HSPA+, Nexus 10s) ?
Based on some of the feedback here, and almost every other review I read, I decided to go for the Nexus 7 and chose to splash out on the HSPA+ one for occasionally using with a data SIM on holidays etc. Unfortunately, my indecision at the checkout meant they were all gone before my order processed

Had a go at getting a Nexus 4 and it just wouldn't checkout, errors everywhere.

I am writing this post from a nexus 10. Ordered mine at around half eight on Tuesday morning. Got a couple of errors and ended up ordering two by mistake, but cancelled it quickly.
First impressions: love it. Feels so much more natural than the iPad with its clunky two boxes in the browser.
Screen is lovely and its every responsive. Still finding my around.

Android 4.2 update rolling out this week. Apart from a few changes in terms of the layout of the notification icons etc., the only major change is that it's made a couple of apps buggy - Firefox is crashing and I had to install a new, rush-released version of MX Player, as well as re-pair my Bluetooth connection with my phone to allow for VPN browsing.

I got the 4.2 update almost as soon as I got it out of the box.
It feels so much more grown up than the iPad. It's hard to explain.
Love it, really do.
Currently playing Streets Of Rage 2 in MD.emu (the touch controls work so much better on a bigger screen) whilst my little girl watches Tinkerbell... I will put it down in a minute and go for a walk!
But,if you are not sold on the apple way of doing things, this is just ace.

Why bother paying £200 more for a fruit label?
