Erm, yes...but surely the point is that when the story is the coalition (ie. as we had during HUNG WEEK) that's one thing, but when you're talking about the actual work of the government, it's a little redundant....Chie wrote:Failed to form one, Barcode.
Failed
to
form
one.
Heath (the Conservative prime minister) negotiated with the Liberal party over forming a coalition. The negotiations collapsed, he resigned, and Labour, being the party with the most seats, formed a minority government.
The media must have used the term 'coalition government' whilst the ill-fated negotiations were taking place.
"coalition government"
Tomorrow is budget day, and this will be the very first test for the coalition. What do most people think of how its goings? Personnel I know what to expect from the tories and cuts are coming and some of them seem to be doing a alright job.
But the lib dems are nothing but a bunch of lyres and cons, there been in power for what 7 weeks already two scandals have hit them, sounds like there just the same.
I though with a lib dem person deciding where the axe should fall, yet he going gun hoo on everything. There already talk in Sheffield nick will lose his seat come next election.

The thing I don't understand about the rough time that the Lib Dems seem to be having... they're facing accusations that they have sold out to the Tories, and that they've all suddenly changed their beliefs and that the people who voted Lib Dem didn't want them to be in agreement with "what the Tories are doing".
Surely what is happening now is that some of their policies are being put into place - and a damned sight more policies than would have been put into place had they not formed the coalition. How is that such a bad thing, and surely rather than going against what those who voted for them want, isn't it giving them the opportunity to make what they wanted happen?
I'd like to add as well that I think the "coalition government" is doing a splendid job so far.

Why? What have they done to you and what do you think they wil do to you and / or your colleagues?
Freeze our pay? Make us work longer? Plus, as I'm employed by a local council, freezing council tax will mean less is coming into my council's coffers, meaning they will cut services and jobs, possibly including mine.GavBelfast wrote:Why? I should also point out that my local council is also run by a ConDem minority administration which has been responsible for abandoning our town centre regeneration in favour of public art, privatising our housing service, closing our care homes and ensuring that while every management position needs at least three levels of administration, front-line services are run at a bare minimum. Yes, these ARE my employers I'm talking about.
Also, rising VAT will increase prices and drive down spending, thus stagnating growth. So the private sector will suffer too.
