My default is Firefox, however I've been using Google Chrome more of late, due to it using significantly less on my resources.

I've changed my default browser so many times over the years. It flicked between Internet Explorer and Firefox for years but like many I converted to Chrome earlier this year.

Safari and Chrome are pretty close in terms of start up and loading speeds right enough. The new Firefox isn't far off either.

Chrome is pretty simplistic so I'm imagining Chrome OS to be similar.

having given the beta of chrome with extensions a try I've promptly uninstalled it again. I dislike the single search bar thing and find their bookmarks system far less fab than firefox.

The bookmarks are the major thing that lets it down. It has odd dialogue boxes too... just a 'close' button. What's wrong with 'OK' and 'Cancel'?

I'm generally a firefox guy, but I'm slowly being convinced to try Chrome. I too have had crashing problems in Firefox 3.5+, although I'm not convinced it's not flash that is the problem rather than firefox. If that is the case, I can't see it improving sharpish due to the lack of any real competition for the lumbering giant.

Having said that, I have most of my problems on my home computer which has just about given up it's last breath (just ordered the bits for building my new machine!), so firefox may redeem itself once I've got the new machine up and running!

i've really gotten used to a single bar, the extra little one on the right in internet explorer and firefox seems superfluous. once you've got your quick searches set up (eg, i've w for wikipedia, u for youtube etc) it's really easy to search for stuff quickly.

i do agree that the lack of tags in the bookmarking system lets it down. i've got used to it and to be honest, all my favorite sites now appear on the 'speed dial' panel on the homepage anyway.

i think firefox is a great browser and hope that development and innovation long continues, that's good for us all, but it's crankiness and ancient code base (in places) really frustrates at times.

Despite Firefox 3.6 being rather good I've noticed it's still rather slow on the netbook especially. Therefore with the final release of Chrome 4 I've decided to give it a proper shot. I think I shall have to tweak my bookmarks somewhat to make them play better with the different interface but I suppose the speed dial page is a worthy replacement for the menu and the bar of icons I currently use.

One thing I am curious about is how Firefox intends to deal with bookmarks as it goes towards a more chrome style interface for their own 4.0, perhaps using an IE style bookmarks button, something I'd say chrome could probably do with.

It's probably just that netbooks are shite, pete.

You say that, but it can't even run Firefox. How poor.
