In one case I can remember well Calvin Harris's new single was being played on Radio 1, the DJ at the time (Judge Jules IIRC) had to talk over it in the middle of the song at the end (reading out listener opinions), nexttime he played it he had to do the same thing.
It was done to prevent people uploading a full clean version to youtube, ripping the audio out of it or uploading an mp3 of it. To protect pirating really, it paid off, he got a number 1 off that single so it works.
I find talking in the middle of a song horribly annoying, the jingles and dj's talking at the end of songs are bad enough.
