I like D-Link. The little router I got years ago is still working happily at my brother's. The only reason I don't currently have a D-Link one is 'cos I'm using the O2 Wireless Box they sent me which seems to do what it says on the tin.

We've got the BT Homehub, but I use this for soley connecting to the internet. For the wireless we have Apple Airport. Basically so we can stream music etc.

The BT Homehub that I had (before halving the cost and doubling the connection speed by leaving BT for O2) was a useless, oversized piece of plastic that dropped its connection every half hour and sat in my hall looking ugly until I got rid.

having cable, i'm stuck with their own modem, however the netgear router I have is vastly superior to both belkin routers i'd used before. I'm considering an airport express for next year as it seems to be cheaper than most printer servers on their own and can also do that lovely music streaming. I presume there's a winamp plugin.
