I think the original lyrics were "081 811 8181", as heard on Going Live.

Yup I was humming that tune to myself earlier and suddenly realised the lyrics, although of course I remember them from Live and Kicking.

I thought it was a Going Live version because it doesn't sound like there's room to sing it as 0181 - the number changes happenned during the days of Going Live IIRC

the 01 stuff happened in 1993, L&K started in 1993. I can recall them doing a feature about them rerecording the jingle to replace the hastily remixed version they had running for a month or two with both versions of the number being sung

Listening again I agree it is L&K rather than GL, the style is very similar to the L&K signature tune.

TSK, i meant to type 1995 but typed 1993 twice. how annoying.

Although didn't the 01xxx numbers come into dual operation in about 1993?
