I love how you've responded as if Nini is the only one who hasn't a clue what you're talking about.

So that technically means within the past 13 years, four banks have became one. Lloyds Bank, TSB, Halifax and Bank of Scotland.

Not good for competition really, is it?

In these tough times, it is better that we pull together.. Mr Q will be around soon to explain in full why this might be a Good Thing.

On a slightly different note, I wonder what's going to happen in towns, mainly down this way, where there are both Cheltenham & Gloucester and Halifax branches? Similarly, I assume many Scottish towns will have both a Lloyds TSB branch and one for Bank of Scotland.

One can only assume that cost saving will have to lead to branch shedding.

There are plenty of places around Edinburgh with both a Lloyds branch and an HBOS within a short distance of each other. They had a clip on Scotland Today tonight of a Lloyds TSB branch in the same shot of BOS' New Uberior House, for example.

But I'm presuming they'll remain as seperate banks for the timebeing but under the same ownership.
