So basically, you're bragging about Move Networks' media streaming tech and not Silverlight, right?

Is that aimed at me or wrongo over there?

I'm in no way 'bragging' about anything just drawing attention to something some might not have seen, and that subjectively I find better than flash.

As far as I understand the system it's Silverlight that does the encoding, the resulting traffic stream is then processed and displayed on the PC by the Move player, which is used in preference to other players as it can dynamically switch instantaneously to other content within the SAME stream unlike switching in real, wmp or flash, which require switching to a TOTALLY SEPARATE stream for alternative content. On the DNC coverage go to alernative camera for a demonstration of this feature, which is akin to selecting a channel on the same Multiplex in DTT terms.

Weird, those words sound just like how Move talks up their new tech. Still, I have little use for a new standard taking up the same space as an established one.

I do wonder if it's a tactical move by Microsoft to try and cement their hold non-Linuxy corner of internet users.

I haven't looked into Siverlight too closely from the dev-side, but I think it does have some very interesting advantages over Flash - not so much in the visually rich WPF side of it, but its including the .NET CLR has some very interesting potential. If only I could think of a use for it.

Although sceptical of this fangled thing, I'm watching that feed of the Democratic Convention and I'm very impressed with the quality (of the picture, not the content).

In other news I've downloaded IE8 and it would seem this here page I'm writing on has some layout issues - there's a very large gap between the icons above the text entry box and the box itself.

That's the only issue with Metropol I've seen in IE8. You can fix it with the little broken page icon to the right of the address bar: But hopefully Hyma will fix it soon

Evening, Haven't posted for a while so thought I would *note to self, picture of me isn't funny on any level and is wrong and needs to be changed*



IMHO I thought the reason the feed is so good isn't so much down to the Silverlight, but more the media player they are using for it called Move. Tim Lovejoy is using it for his new venture called http://www.channelbee.com and that doesn't use Silverlight. Tim was saying on what ever ISP you are on, broadband of dial up, thanks to the Move player it never freezes or buffers.
