Have none of the haterz actually got the point of the ad? That the "mum" of a family will become like a New York deli man if they use Heinz mayonnaise? It's got nothing to do with controversiality or a deep discussion of gay rights - it's just harmless fun, and the ASA should be utterly ashamed of themselves for needless and meaningless censorship.

I'm sure none of them have realised this and all they saw was men kissing so the red mist descended. As a signed up lover of the manspunk in a jar (though I'm more partial to bottled) I do have a jar of the garlic variant, very yummy with chips.

Worth pointing out there has been no ASA adjudication, but rather Heinz (publically) pulling it. I share some of the cynicism that it lets them draw attention to the product, which is a rather unfortunate way of selling out to the fringe opinion.

It didn't sell mayo to me i'm a salad cream girl thru and thru. What gets me is 200 complain and they pull it. What sort of dumb world do we live in. Sometimes the ads are better than the progs that follow.
You can read anything into anything if yoy look hard enough.

Nothing could sell salad cream to me, reminds me of some terrible summertimes as a wee girl. That and it isn't all that nice, oh well.
The ad was pulled due to fringe opinion even though, this is the biggie, those opinions were almost completely wrong. cdd wrong if you'd believe it. Same thing happened in the US with Dunkin' Donuts and some apparent terrorist sympathising due to a paisley scarf.

The comments from some of the Guardian readers are similarly amusing: there's at least one person trying to link Heinz with the Nazis and someone else invoking Mugabe for some reason. I have to admit I missed the point of the advert (probably as I watched it without sound) but even at face value it's harmless.

I've just noticed something. Deli Mayo. Daily Mail. They sound similar. Ain't that brilliant?

One goes into a mouth, the other comes out of an arse. Try to guess which is which.

Oh I think that's a little harsh.
They're not that wrong!
By the way how come there's a deleted post by our very own nodnirg on the guardian's blog?

Apparently. Although I suppose it could be an entirely different Mark Grindon.
I have been wrong once or twice before, you understand.
