Even when Shannon first went missing i thought something stunk. My first thought was that the stepfather was behind it.
The recent arrests and charges is only scraping the top of the barrel. I think it's likely there will be lots more twists and turns. None of them seem to have many brain cells between them and Michael Donovan seems to be the dumbest of them all, which is probably why he was given the task of taking Shannon into his home, too thick to foresee the consequences of his role in this scam.
This Shannon Matthews business
This is certainly a facinating case. It's not even clear yet what the motivation was behind any of this. If it was to try to make money then it wasn't planned well at all; and it probably failed in that respect.
Maybe it was just a sequence of events (ie the Mother leaving her b/f, then changing her mind) that subsequently got out of control. If so, then it's surprising that with all the people involved, not one of them had the intelligence to see where it was all heading. With that level of ineptitude it was only a matter of time before someone blabbed.
It was obvious simply by the circumstances in which Shannon was found that there was more to this than an abduction. At least now the girl is safe, and by all accounts happy. Perhaps something good has come out of the whole thing, although more by accident than design.

You're wrong Stu, that metaphor was apt.StuartPlymouth wrote:Bless. What a sweet mangled metaphorLorns wrote:The recent arrests and charges is only scraping the top of the barrel.
I get your code now Stu. Each time you make one of your bitchy and most times uncalled for remarks you cap them with

Don't change it, helps me to step around your proverbial mounds of shit that fall from your fingers.
I wasn't being bitchy! It made me chuckle, and I also PM'd Lorna to let her know how much it made me laugh.Nini wrote:I get your code now Stu. Each time you make one of your bitchy and most times uncalled for remarks you cap them with.

At least it wasn't written in parentheses in tiny letters as is Stu's MO at the moment.
Still, its better than Brekkie's god damn double-spaced posts.

According to press reports quoting the mother of Donovan's biological children, he was banned from seeing them by Social Services after the school found an 'inappropriate note' in one of the children's lunchboxes.Lorns wrote:Even when Shannon first went missing i thought something stunk. Latest reports are that Shannon's Mother is being investigated for benefit fraud. Apparently she received £400 a week by claiming that she was caring for 4 of her children while living on her own. I'm sure it doesn't cost £100 to feed and clothe a child for a week.
The fact that she wasn't on her own isn't what amazes me here, but the fact than ANYONE can receive £20,000 a year (tax free) in benefits in the first place. That's roughly equivalent to the take home pay of someone on a £26,000 salary.
She's reported as saying "I earned it. I put the food on the table." She seems to have completely missed the concept of earning; somebody else earned it, paid tax that was handed to her on a plate for doing nothing more than being unable to keep her legs shut whenever she met someone new.
If she was on a benefits scam then this woman was incredibly stupid to put herself in the public eye.

And we're still financing her stint at her majestys pleasure. Well She hasn't got much to worry about with this Economic depression on the horizon then has she. Either way she will get provided with a roof over her head at our expense . All doom and gloom today and to think i was looking forward to the weekend.
