Actually the fact that new tabs are opened next to the parent page is really nice IMO. It means all the tabs are nicely grouped rather than the random mess as in Firefox. And thus the joy of open source extensions to Firefox. Apart from the last thing you said. And the way IE7 can re-open your tabs if you close an IE session with lots of them open is nice and like a quick'n'dirty session saver - I use that almost every day actually
