Sole Lundy Fastnet:
West 5 to 7 backing south gale 8 to storm 10 then veering west, perhaps violent storm 11 later. Rough or very rough becoming high or very high, occasionally phenomenal later in Sole and Fastnet. Rain or showers. Good becoming poor.

Shannon:
West 5 to 7 backing south gale 8 to storm 10 then veering northwest severe gale 9 to violent storm 11, perhaps hurricane force 12 later. high becoming very high or phenomenal. Rain or showers. Good becoming very poor.

Ohmigod. They actually use phenomenal as a meteorological term?

Ah, how I love the dhipping forecast, the way it is presented on Radio 4, sorta like... poetry :P

Pah, that's nothing. I know a guy who created a machine to measure ice in clouds that abbreviates to ASSFUCK.

I realise that is just another of your supercilious remarks, Sput. But there are many instances of people accidentally producing acronyms/abbreviations which had a rather unfortunate meaning.

My example: MOD instigated a new internal transit system in the 1980s for the Faslane/Clyde area naval establishments. The departmenal legend remains that they had actually painted the delivery lorries and transit vans with the new logo before somebody made the wise decision to rename the Faslane Area Rapid Transport Service.

*sigh*, Wrong again stu. It's just a fact that I thought might be interesting. If you stopped trying so hard you might actually be tolerable on here. He knew what he was doing though.

Trying hard to do what? I'm sure everyone is aware by now of your delusions of self-importance Sput, but I've not noticed anyone posting on here simply to impress you or anyone else.

It's a discussion forum, not a place for ego posturing.

Wouldn't be very successful, on account of the fact that I just reiterate urban myths. :(

That's all right, then.

Nice to know we'll get forty-five minutes notice of its arrival.

Using pretentious language and constantly trying to show up normal additions to the conversation as something they're clearly not, and using that to criticise the poster for no good reason.

Let's take a look at what's just happened, shall we?
- There's a faintly funny word used to describe something scientific
- I mention that another scientist made up a funny acronym that's very rude
- You tell me I'm sneering
- I tell you I'm not
- You tell me I'm self-important.

I honestly think you're wrong and fucking rude. All I do here is post stuff. If someone says something that's plain wrong, I try and make them see why. If they piss me off continually, I'm rude to them. If they post something I disagree with, I argue with them.

A quick reminder to all users that Sput's niceness week has been extended to make Metropol appear lovely and welcoming. Hurrah!

It must be working! You're new! Stu isn't included since he managed to piss me off within the first DAY of the thing.
