Those are odd ingredients in soup.

I think I'm going to have pasta with broccoli (steamed first) in a little cream reduction sauce.

That's about 2 quid. If I make enough it will do for tomorrow.

I can't eat soup without bread.

If only there was a thread about bread I could refer to.

After a chilly run up to the top of the road I see that Scotmid are closed!

Och well, its pasta with butter and black pepper til tomorrow, or perhaps rice 'n' peas (which I just remembered I have).

But first I'm going to have some crispy onion rings.

I really must check the freezer more often!

Nor me. I break it up and put it in the bowl like giant spongy croutons.

For a frugal meal you can do an awful lot worse than Pasta and Baked Beans - not the most imaginative or inspiring meal ever produced, but it is cheap and filling (plus with enough pepper it is mildly tasty).

Don't think I've had a baked bean for about a decade.

Just found some breaded garlic mushrooms in the freezer. Plonked them in the fryer.

Let's hope no one asks for a snog tonight. Highly unlikely anyway.

It's amazing what interesting meals can be made when you explore the far reaches of the food cupboard or the frozen depths of the freezer.

Pasta goes with just about anything. I seem to recall that a former Housemate survived on pasta and baked beans, and it never seemed to do her any harm - although the vodka she washed it down with probably did in the end :?
