What makes me laugh is that anti-smoking health fascists seem to believe that they're immortal!

We're all gonna die! ;)

Oh, and smoking isn't necessarily going to kill you off at 50. The world's oldest woman ever to have lived (as verified by the GBR) was Jean-Marie Calmont - a French woman who smoked all her life until 4 years before her death due to the fact that her eyesight was too poor and she was embarrased to ask for a lighter.

She died in 1997 at the grand old age of 122 years old.

If you are sat in your car even on your companies premises they cannot stop you.
If they try the disciplinary route I think I'll just add 5 minutes to my flexi-time everyday for the hassle of walking to the nearest point off NHS land and standing 1 foot the other side, merrily blowing my exhaled tobacco smoke back into their airspace until they see sense! (I too can be petty and pedantic)

My (now former) local was the first pub in my area to go totally non-smoking. It's now been refurbished and is now a pricey restaurant.

I'm pleased the ban is just a few days away.

Hahaha the anti smokers seem to have shot themselves in the foot with this ban.
Oh yes, the smokers are really winning in this one.

Maybe, just maybe smokers and non-smokers will manage to sit in the open air in harmony because the smoke can dissipate and both be free of smoke inside.

If smokers really revelled in the delights of smoking outside - why does the ban make any difference at all?

I hear you! Don't take what i say too seriously. Thinking of trying that Nicorette stuff. "Loose the smoke keep the fire"

I've tried quitting so many times, but it is hard. I climb the walls, more so than ever if i tried to quit now (i'm a ball of stessed out frustration). Whenever i have gone cold turkey or with nicotine replacement help, i become more of a bitch than usual ( you don't have a bitchy bone in your body Lorns. I hear you say! I HEAR YOU SAY) Ex Mr H would just chuck me a Benson and say for fucks sake have a fag will ya. That doesn't really help.

Keep smouldering Ms H. Some of us have to pay the NHS for all those hip operations through our taxes

Of course dodgy hips are due to smoking

Nor me. I laugh at the morons so desparate for a fag they're huddled outside the pub under an umbrella.

I am actually wearing the clothes I was wearing in the pub yesterday night. Couldn't do that before. They now only smell of me.

And the last time I checked, BO doesn't kill people standing next to you.

RIP Roy Castle.

Ewwww, I'm not sure where to start on explaining how wrong that is...

True, it doesn't.....but it's extreemly anti-social and given that you wear your clothes for days on end I'm guessing that you don't have many people standing next to you for very long.

I've heard a few people say that they couldn't wait for this smoking ban, as now they can take their kids to the pub with them without the worry of them breathing in secondhand smoke.

Erm, sorry, but I kindof enjoy the fact that their bratty screaming kids aren't there to start with. Some of us go to the pub to escape things like that.

Also... we've been told at our work by the local council that, not only can we not smoke inside (which we've never allowed anyway), but now we aren't allowed to smoke around the perimetre of the building too. Now then, being one of the managers of the place like I am, I am not allowed to leave the building other than to pop to the immediate outside of it. They can frigg off if they think I'm going to wait an 8 hour shift before I have a fag.

Does anyone know if this is actually the law? Because I can't find anything saying this on any of the government websites.

Kids shouldn't be in pubs int he first place...as for supermakets (don't get me started)

I was always dropped off at my Nan's when my Mum went shopping -I'm sure it was less hassle for her and avoided irritating the other genuine shoppers.
