Although said in humour, you will regret it when she is gone (presumably before you as no parent wants to bury their child).

My Mum had already chosen some songs for her funeral (a non-religious affair), and me and my sister chose the rest after her death. They were far more moving than empty words from a vicar or hymns that she would've never sung.

I miss my Mum
I probably will. I love my mum dearly but she brought the subject up. She also chose to tell me that she has every intention of spending mine and my brothers inheritance. My response to that was, bloody right too! You only live once and We're big enuff and ugly enuff to look after ourselves.

I sorted out my Dads song for his funeral. Land of my fathers is what he wanted, i put that and loads of others that he and my Mum loved onto a disc for her. It's times like this where the wonders of the internet become invaluable.

I miss my Dad so much!

Actually, that's pretty similar to what my gran has arranged for herself when her time's up. She's opted for one of those "natural burials", where you get a cardboard or chipboard coffin (or even just a shroud, but she had visions of her feet sticking up out of the grave...) and then a tree planted nearby.

She said that she can't see the point of spending a fortune or a big fuss on a funeral, she's quite happy to be 'recycled', and the burial ground is all wild grasses and flowers, which reminds her of her childhood. She's always been bothered by the fact that her father never got an appropriate send-off (he got a religious service despite being a staunch atheist all his life), and so she's keen to make sure that everybody knows what she'd like.

I don't know if she wants any music played, although she did consider making a tape recording of herself saying a few words - but then she thought that might be too creepy. Although, she does have the coffin in a corner of her bedroom...
