Well essentially, an open back truck with massive windows in it came fleeing around the roundabout outside the print works of said publishers, and the windows which were not tied down properly proceeded to crash down onto the road about 6 inches from my car which was about to join the roundabout.

I made a point of phoning the police right afterwards (although was kept on hold for several minutes before they answered).

I stopped reading about the time the artist changed and "Bea" was introduced but I still have them all somewhere, I used to collect them. I know I've got the first full color edition somewhere.

Scary stuff! (More so iff you drive a convertible). Several minutes? How many exactly? 'cos when my local tesco express got ram raided in the early hours last week. They took the cash machine out with a JCB AGAIN! ( i'd have gone for the booze and fags but, hey ho!) It took the police 20mins to get there, when they're all of about 5 mins away and Folkestone is hardly the crime capital of England.

Funny little site commemorating comic book oddities over the years.

I found this one particularly daft.

The front cover of the first Beano I brought.

I also have several more comics from 1997- 2002 and annuals dating 1982-2002.

Do they still do that fan club with the furry Gnasher badge? Used to cost 45p to join the club if I recall!

No, they axed that in the early 2000s when the Beano got a 'new look' and a new 'Beano club' (or similar name) was launched costing £10+, I think the fee increased over time.
