May I ask why you posted this thread?

For some help. I am not really connecting with anyone here at Kent, and I do not want to speak to my family about these things again, because they won't understand it, so I thought I could find comfort in advice from people here, simply because a lot of people here are older than me and know more about university and this time of life than I do.

Alright, alright.

Bee bee, big changes in your life are always going to unsettle you a little. But don't sweat it - it gets easier.

Take Dan's good advice and make the most of the internet portal at your University to meet new folk. There will be tons of people in the same boat as you.

You may have your reasons for not drinking, but there's no harm in having a couple of drinkies in moderation. Harm springs from excess, remember.

But this is the thing. I never felt completely comfortable at school either, and I just fear going down the same route again. It's all very complicated.

You are so difficult to give advice to. You say everyone gives the same advice, we can't all be wrong can we?!

DAS gives the best advice. He's been at Kent Uni. You've got to put yourself out there though.

Oh I'm probably just making things worse for myself somehow. Self-defeatist I guess.

Blah, I'm waffling.

Toughen up, search the website and get out there and do stuff! Just do it! Canterbury is quite ok, just don't go out after midnight... heheh, I kid!

A bit unpleasant, no ? Is it your role to perpetuate the Metropol stereotype ?
