I'm not being picky but i think that is perfectly clear. He's obviously playing with the site to make it better.
In the meantime are we allowed to talk tv stuff over here? It was allowed once before. If it's going to be down for some considerable time we should be able to accomodate tvfers.
They put up with me. It's only fair.

The first half of that sentence is quite believable.
I shall need an awful lot of convincing to come anywhere near believing the second half.
I take it the word "advance", as in "advance notice of weekend closure" isn't in the sadministrator's vocabulary.

So that would explain the flag... Phew! Mystery solved.

Out of interest, what's with the secrecy? Why isn't there just a message saying he's changing the server?

The OLD server was in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
The new server's in Preston, Lancashire, England, if my spies are to be trusted.

Did you say Preston?

Evening Nick, thought you might pop up. Why exactly did I need to give advance warning to members? I'd be a little worried if people had to suddenly rearrange their schedule because they weren't able to spend their Saturday afternoon on the site!
Anyway, the site has crossed the pond to the UK for (I think) the first time. Fingers crossed the too many connections issue is a thing of the past and hopefully the speed is to everyone's liking too.
Whilst tvforum.co.uk sorts itself out, please continue as normal at

Oh and the little post it note mystery is simple - it says "Moving Saturday". That screenshot was actually taken a few months ago and the plan was to put it up on the day of the "big" change. As I brought the server move forward, I wanted to keep it a bit more low key so didn't put the post it note up on the site itself.
Thanks, Asa

On any other website it would say "The server is changing, back in a couple of hours". On TVF we get a teaser campaign involving a Canadian flag, a mysterious garbled Post-It note and a level of secrecy the MI5 would be proud of. I find that rather endearing in an odd sort of way.
