What paper is this from, and how did they compile the list? It seems a bit cobbled together by a features writer and his mates in the pub.

I might be completely wrong, but the fact that the number one bug-bear can be resolved by a 5 minute browse on the TPS.org website doesn't make me beleive the validity of this document.

Like I said, it was taken from The Daily Mail, the only place where I could find the full list of 100. And the survey was taken from 2,000 people. It does seem odd that some seem similar too others - wouldn't "running out of hot water" result in "cold showers"? And surely "singing out of tune" is what "karaoke" is all about?

By the way, the list is also printed on The Mirror's website, with slight differences from The Daily Mail version.

I haven't had chance to read it, but I was listening to Terry Christian talking about it on BBC Radio Manchester this morning and he said it was in The Mirror. Anyway that's not the point he made, he said the best way to deal with a cold caller was to put on a voice of a young boy to say that his parents aren't in at the moment, but will pass the message on to his dad in Prison who maybe interested...

I'm glad Cold Calling is No1, it really pisses me off, I've had loads of missed calls on my phone from 08's, other mobiles I don't know and 'Unknown' and it is really annoying me, though our house phone is worse, they have a tendancy not to leave a message on the answer phone, and then when you check via 1471 when you get back, again it's an 08.... number.

The TPS (and for that matter the CTPS, FPS and MPS) are wonderful organisations. The vast majority of marketing companies, like mine, stick rigidly by their rules as it benefits everyone.
