Well, the safemode thing is partly my 'fault' as it were as I changed it to 1024x768 as the text was huge on my 17" screen when it was working.

I wasn't expecting it to take this long to replace my moniitor! It's an Iiyama - there maybe a 3 year warranty but god help you if they're out of stock.

can you not run regedit at all in 'normal mode' and change it back?

Where can I find the screen resolution settings for safe mode in the registry?

As far as I am aware, safe mode and normal mode screen res settings are completely separate to each other.
