whilst there is nothing wrong with the concept of bringing the nation together (i'd argue that such a notion by its very nature is flawed) the problem with football is that it has always been a sanctuary of the intellectually challenged. that's why even today we still have people being hurt for supporting the wrong team or walking into a pub with the wrong type of shirt on.James Martin wrote:Hey, come on Nick.

you've only got to watch them in the pub whilst a game is in progress to verify this to be true. the amount of emotion that some of these men display is nothing short of astonishing - it boarders on the unstable. no wonder these people become violent so easily.
it must be said it is interesting to 'people watch' in these circumstances; In particular it's interesting to observe the non-fans and bandwagon jumpers trying their best to emulate the behaviour of their peers but never really pulling it off.
