I have a PS2 gathering dust, as when I got mine (back in 2000) I started playing Games on it at first, but overall was mainly using it as a DVD Player, as DVD's were cheaper to buy and still are. Then about 3 or 4 years later everytime I started watching a DVD on it, the picture started to trigger, so I went and out bought a DVD Player from Asda for £30, it solved my problem.

I still have my PS2, they're good machines, I just don't have time or really any interest for them anymore.

Still have a Sega Mega Drive II here aswell, which I did switch on last year, but looked rather dated, though it was good playing Sonic The Hedgehog once again. Though why bother when you can get a plug in console of a Sega machine for as low as £20 with plenty of games, how fast times change, eh?

I quite like the new compact PS2s. Don't know why it couldn't have been that size in the first place.

I agree, the normal PS2's are rather big and consume some space, though Sony have done it before, there was the original Playstation, then when PS2 launched, they brought out PSOne, which was a very small Playstation, which AIUI you could buy a small screen to attach to it, to make it portable, never took off considering the fact the screens were the best part of £100 whilst the 'PSOne' was about £70 at the time, (and don't laugh, in 1997 when I got my Playstation as a Christmas pressie, it was over £200 or so), though what is the going rate for a PS2 these days? They've been out for over 5 years, and last I checked they were still the best part of £150.

Who remembers PocketStation? I remember Sony were building this up, and eventually it only ever got launched in Japan and nowhere else, some Games were built for it, such as Ridge Racer Type 4, though we've been compensated for now, with the much better PSP.

Alot of games companies do that. They went from a black PS2 to the really better looking silver one, and then they shrink the size which is fantastically compact. What confuses me is that they shrink the PS2, and now the PS3 is going to be even bigger than the original PS2 model.

Others include a ceramic white PSP after it's launch, a smaller version of the "PSOne", a compact Nintendo DS which I'm sure owners will prefer more to the original, and the Xbox going crystal. I'm sure there are others.

They do this simply to attract more buyers, but I don't think they do how irritating it is for the people who already own the product to see what they've missed put on!

£108 for a plain PS2 slimline
£125 for one with games in WHS
